Shiskine is the trip's reason to exist: a 12-hole links at Blackwaterfoot rated among the most fun courses in Britain, with blind shots called by flags and the Kilbrannan Sound beside you. Lamlash and Brodick are honest island golf at prices that feel like a different decade. Book the ferry as early as the tee times — summer sailings with a vehicle fill up — or walk on as foot passengers and use the island's buses and taxis.

Base yourself in Brodick
Brodick is the natural base — the ferry arrives there, the island's biggest supply of hotels, guest houses and self-catering is there, and Brodick's own course is ten minutes' walk from the pier. Lamlash is one bay south; Shiskine at Blackwaterfoot is a half-hour drive across the String Road, which is part of the day out. Groups coming as foot passengers should stay central in Brodick and plan the Shiskine day around the bus or a shared taxi. Book accommodation and the CalMac crossing together, well ahead for summer — the island fills up.
