Green Fees 2026
£50–£90 for a visitor round at Lanark Golf Club. Checked against the club's published rates on 15 August 2026.
Moorland golf on The Moor since 1851 - the club calls it the world's oldest inland course still on its original ground, shaped by Old Tom Morris and refined by James Braid.
Lanark Golf Club has been playing over The Moor since 1851, and the club's claim - the world's oldest inland course still in play on its original ground - is the kind of heritage most clubs would build a museum around. Lanark just plays golf on it. The routing began under Old Tom Morris and George Sayers, and James Braid later added his refinements, which means the 6,428-yard par 70 carries the fingerprints of three of the most important names in Scottish course design without ever having been rebuilt into something they wouldn't recognise.
The ground is the point. Laid across free-draining glacial sands, this is true moorland golf - firm, flowing fairways that play all year round, which in Lanarkshire is not a small promise. The course has hosted national and international amateur championships and served as regional qualifying for The Open, and the test holds up: it is not long by modern standards, but firm moorland turf and honest bunkering keep the scoring interesting in any wind.
Visitor access is straightforward through the club's online booking, with the sharpest value in the margins: £60 on Mondays and weekdays after 4pm against the standard £90 summer round, and the whole course for £50 a round through the winter. There is also a 9-hole Wee Course - nine par 3s from 75 to 233 yards - at £15 for a full day, which is one of the better family add-ons in the region.

Picked for parkland rounds in Scotland.
Outerwear
The mid-weight option for parkland — fully waterproof but lighter than the wind-spec links jackets. Packs into a back-pocket pouch when the sun comes out.
Layer
Scotland's premium sportswear name. Cut for a swing rather than a jog; the moisture-wicking suits warmer parkland rounds where the wind isn't doing the work.
Tech
Tree-lined parkland holes are exactly the situation where a rangefinder pays for itself. The V7's switchable slope mode is allowed in any non-tournament round.
