Pitreavie Golf Club

Pitreavie is a name most golfers outside Fife have never rated, attached to a designer every golfer on earth has: Dr Alister MacKenzie, the architect of Augusta National and Cypress Point, laid out this parkland on the southern edge of Dunfermline, and it opened on 17 June 1922 - a decade before Augusta. MacKenzie courses in Scotland are genuinely rare, and this is one you can play for less than fifty pounds midweek. His calling card here is the greens: double and triple-tiered surfaces that the club has kept, and that turn what the scorecard says is a modest course into an afternoon of three-putt danger.

The card reads 6,032 yards, par 71 off the white tees, with a 70.0 rating and a 129 slope - numbers that say the same thing as the greens do: not long, not simple. It is proper mature parkland, ten minutes off the M90 and two miles from Dunfermline's stations, which makes it one of the easiest quality courses in Fife to reach without going anywhere near the East Neuk crowds.

Visitor pricing is refreshingly plain: £48 midweek, £59 at weekends on the published summer 2026 rates, with twilight rounds after 4pm at £25-£30 - the cheap way onto MacKenzie greens in evening light. Three buggies are available through the pro shop, and tee times book online through the club's visitor booking system.
