The shorter of Monifieth's two public links — par 68, 5,123 yards, and the honest-value round on the property.
The Ashludie is the second course on Monifieth's public links, some 1,500 yards shorter than the Open-qualifying Medal next door — and the club itself argues the challenge is no less for it, with slightly smaller greens and more aggressive contouring around them. At 5,123 yards, par 68, it opens with a 275-yard par 4 to a raised green and keeps offering short par 4s that ask a question off the tee: driver and a flick, or position and a proper approach?
Monifieth's own description is the honest sell — the type of course that feeds your imagination and lets you conjure shots you rarely get to play elsewhere. In practice that means bump-and-runs off tight links turf, greens you can putt from twenty yards short of, and a scorecard that flatters nobody who gets greedy.
At £40 in April and £65 through the season, it costs a fraction of the £160 Medal on the same turf, shares the same four centuries of golfing ground east of Dundee, and books through the same office. For the budget golfer working the Angus coast, this is the round.
